Jaguar, keen to expand its petrol engine range now that diesel is passé, is introducing another variant of its 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol turbocharged unit.
The new engine develops 300hp and 400Nm of torque, and when fitted to the XF saloon, manages 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds, fuel economy of 7.2 litres/100km (40mpg) and Co2 emissions of 163g/km.
In the smaller XE, the 0-100km/h sprint drops to 5.5 seconds, with economy of 6.9 litres/100km (41.5mpg) and Co2 emissions of 157g/km.
In the F-Pace SUV, the engine manages 0-100km/h in 6.0 seconds with fuel economy of 7.7 litres/100km (37mpg). Co2 figures for the F-Pace have yet to be confirmed.
The updated 2.0-litre engine benefits from a twin-scroll turbo and low-friction ceramic bearings, and is coupled as standard to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
"We continue to broaden the range of our Ingenium engine family, giving customers more choice than ever before. Our new 300hp petrol engine provides the performance synonymous with Jaguar, while delivering enhanced fuel economy thanks to its state-of-the-art exhaust technology and pioneering valve train design. This clean and more efficient engine perfectly complements the advanced lightweight aluminium body structure of our XE, XF and F-Pace models" said Nick Rogers, Executive Director, Product Engineering.
