SEAT has launched the new, fifth-generation, Ibiza into the Irish market, with prices for the most basic S model starting from €14,995.
Only around five per cent of Ibiza sales will be in S spec though, the bulk of sales, 65 per cent or so, will go to the better-equipped SE model, which starts at €17,335. The balance will be split between sporty FR (€19,465 for the cheapest one) and the more luxurious Xcellence (€18,745 for one of those).
Launch engines include the basic 75hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, and the new 115hp turbo 1.0-litre three-pot. There's a 95hp turbo 1.0-litre inbetween, and the Ibiza range will expand later in the year with 1.6-litre diesel models and the very refined 150hp 1.5-litre turbo. In fact, SEAT will be the first arm of the Volkswagen Group in Ireland to offer that new engine, which is quite the vote of confidence.
The Ibiza has Front Assist collision warning as standard, while high-tech items such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Wireless Charger and GSM signal amplifier all available as options. The new model can also lay claim to having the largest boot in the segment.
Other tech options such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link will be available and the Ibiza also features Beats sound-system and an eight-inch touchscreen, if you tick the right options boxes. Full LED headlights are also available. SE models come reasonably well equipped with Bluetooth, a five-inch touchscreen, air conditioning, LED daytime running lights, multi-function steering wheel, emergency autonomous braking, side and curtain airbags, and a hill-holder clutch as standard.
To celebrate the launch of the all-new Ibiza and as part of its 172 sales event, SEAT has announced a special 3-2-1 offer which provides customers with a three year service plan free of charge, two per cent PCP finance on most new models with monthly repayments from just €169, and one years free road tax with offers available until July 31st.
