What's the news?
SEAT is joining its Volkswagen Group cousins in offering scrappage discounts for customers trading in older diesel cars. The SEAT EcoGrant offer applies to anyone trading in a diesel car that conforms to Euro 1 to Euro 4 Emissions regulations, which effectively means cars built up to 2009.
The grants run from €800 off the price of a SEAT Mii, to €1,500 off a new Ibiza, and €2,750 off a Leon, with the Leon and Ibiza both also available with 0 per cent finance.
As with the rest of the Volkswagen Group offers, the car being traded in must have been taxed and insured in the owner's name for the previous six months at least, and it applies to new SEATs ordered between now and the end of December, although delivery and registration can be deferred to the end of June next year. All of the diesel-engined cars being traded in will actually be scrapped, separating the Volkswagen Group offer from some other 'scrappage' schemes that actually re-sell the traded-in cars afterwards.
Niall Phillips, Brand Director of SEAT Ireland commented: "The EcoGrant offers customers of older diesel vehicles the opportunity to change into one of our new, lower emission models available across the SEAT range. With the extremely attractive finance rates on offer including 0 per cent finance on any new Ibiza or Leon, we are confident this will appeal to a wide audience and I would encourage everyone to visit their local SEAT dealer to find out more."
