What's the news?
Kia has officially launched the new Stonic small SUV onto the Irish market, with a price for the most basic 1.2-litre model of €18,599.
The Stonic is expected to be a model that will pull buyers away from other brands in an increasingly competitive segment. "The Stonic will be an important conquest model for Kia in one of the newest and fastest-growing vehicle segments. In Ireland, the B-SUV segment is expected to grow by 100 per cent in the next two years as demand for traditional B and C segment cars declines. We expect Stonic to become an extremely important part of our product mix here in Ireland and become as just as successful as our flagship Sportage and Cee'd models" commented James Brooks, Managing Director of Kia Motors Ireland.
Basic Stonics, in K1 entry-level spec, will come with stop-start, skid plates at the front and rear, audio remote, Bluetooth, a 3.5-inch screen in the instrument panel, a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, 15-inch alloys, leather gear knob and parking brake handle, front armrest, spare wheel, privacy glass, rear USB, speed limiter and cruise control.
Upgrading to a K2 spec model, which comes with a 1.4-litre 100hp petrol (expected to be the biggest seller) or a 1.6 diesel, gets you air conditioning, LED daytime running lights, electric mirrors, roof rails and 17-inch alloys.
K3 Stonics get LED rear lights, chrome trim, heated leather front seats, satnav and DAB, plus a rear-view camera.
The top-spec K4 version is the only one that gets the 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo petrol three-cylinder engine, and is priced at €24,599. Emissions start from as little as 109g/km for the diesel model, or 125g/km for the most popular 1.4-litre petrol.
