Volkswagen Ireland has announced the launch of its new Touareg, which is significantly lighter and promises to be up to 20 percent more fuel efficient than the out-going model.
Sporting Volkswagen's flush-fitting new corporate grille (first seen on the MK6 Golf), along with a redesigned front-end, the luxury off roader has better aerodynamics than its predecessor. This, combined with the lower weight and the introduction of Volkswagen's new six-cylinder 3.0 TDI BlueMotion engine with stop-start, means the Touareg uses 7.4 litres/100km and emits CO2 of 195g/km. With 204hp, performance is respectable, the dash to 100km/h taking nine seconds on the way to a 206km/h top speed.
There's an improved interior that promises to be more comfortable thanks to new seats and more rear legroom.
