Hardcore 911 gets harder still.

What's the news?

Porsche is boosting the power output of the 911 GT3 RS to 520hp for the latest version. The rear-mounted (of course) flat-six 4.0-litre engine, still without turbos, will shove the GT3 from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 305km/h. That's 20hp extra, with a 9,000rpm redline, driving the rear wheels through a revised seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gear change.

There are only detail changes to the styling. It keeps the massive rear wing, of course, but there are also now some tweaks to the bumpers and air intakes. There is a lighter engine cover, though.

Inside, there are deeply-sculpted sports seats, made of carbon-reinforced plastic for extra strength, with lightness, while the door panels get nets instead of pockets, loops instead of door handles, and pretty much no sound deadening whatsoever.

There are two available equipment packs for the GT3 RS - a Clubsport pack which includes a roll-cage, fire extinguisher, wiring for a battery disconnect switch, and a six-point harness for the driver.

Then there's the Weissach pack, which comes with extra structural carbon-fibre parts, more carbon fibre sections for the cabin and the bodywork, and magnesium wheels. Tick all the Weissach boxes and you'll cut the weight of your GT3 to 1,430kg.

Order books are open now, and while there's no prices just yet, the UK price is STG£141,346, so it'll likely cost around €290,000 before options here.
