Lexus UX crossover to debut in Geneva

Lexus will reveal the UX alongside two other models at this year's Geneva Motor Show.

What's the news?

March 6th sees the unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show of the new Lexus UX small crossover. We first saw the striking UX concept almost a year and a half ago at the Paris Motor Show in 2016. Its bold, angular looks and crossover-coupé styling very much reflecting Lexus' current, aggressive design language.

According to a Lexus: "A powerful reinterpretation of the Lexus design signatures, the UX Concept reflected the determination by Lexus for each of its models to have a unique, standalone character with a strong concept behind it." The UX concept is pitched at, according to Lexus, "the Urbanites of the future".

Judging from teaser photos released ahead of the launch, it appears that the styling of the concept has been toned-down somewhat, though it retains its squat, beefy stance. The taillights are connected in a thin strip across the back and rise-up at the corners like fins. The UX is expected to be based on the same platform as Toyota's small crossover, the C-HR. It will enter the market facing competition from the likes of the BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, Audi Q3 and the Infiniti QX30.

Anything else?

This year's Geneva show also sees the European premiere of the seven-seater version of the Lexus RX SUV, the RX-L. This is to be shown alongside the LX-1 Limitless crossover concept that we saw in Detroit back in January.
