What's the news?

German car tuning mentalists Brabus have decided that what the already-bloody-rapid Mercedes-AMG E 63 high-performance machine needs is MOAR POWERRRRRR!

To that end, they've taken the turbocharged V8 engine, chucked away Merc's own turbos and added two of their own, cranking boost pressure up to 1.6 bar and adding reinforced axial bearings.

Then they recalibrate injection, boost control, and ignition timing, and the result is an extra 188hp, bringing the total to a nice, round, 800hp. Oh, and 1,000Nm of torque, developed from just 3,700rpm.

Thanks to all-wheel drive, the Brabus 800 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.0 seconds, and will run on to a limited top speed of 300km/h assuming you keep a handy Autobahn about your person.

There's a stainless steel Brabus-tuned exhaust with ceramic coated tailpipes, which should serenade you with an unmistakable sound of space-time being turned in on itself by that engine, and thankfully there's a button in the cockpit that shuts everything up for a discrete 'coming home' mode.

On the outside, you can have matte-finish paint, and a surprisingly subtle bodykit in 'naked' carbon-fibre. That kit has been wind-tunnel tested, so it actually works to improve the car's stability at high speeds.

There are also monoblock forged 21-inch wheels, which can be fitted with Continental, Pirelli, or Yokohama tyres, while the adjustable air suspension has a standard ride-height that's 20mm lower than that of an E63 AMG.

Inside, Brabus adds its own special leather and Alcantara suede finishes, and you can choose between wood and carbon-fibre inlays, plus a choice of colours that's fully customisable.

Combined fuel consumption is a surprisingly gentle 9.1 litres/100km, while CO2 emissions are a positively saintly 207g/km. Plus you get a three-year, 100,000km warranty from Brabus itself. Oh, and there's even an estate version should you need to transport a new fridge at 300km/h.
