What's the news?
Subaru first showed us a VIZIV concept in Geneva back in 2013 and thusfar, we've had six different versions, all hinting at the company's "Vision for Innovations" (where the VIZIV name comes from) in its future cars.
Today at Geneva, Subaru released a seventh version, the VIZIV Tourer Concept, a sporty estate, which, though dramatic in its styling isn't too outlandish and possibly previews the next-generation WRX wagon. It's all creases and swoops from the hexagonal grille backwards with a forward-thrusting body which offers plenty of boot space and seating for four.
Inside, there's plenty of driver-assistance technology like radar and a look at the next generation of Subaru's "Eyesight" system which monitors lane-changes, the movement of other traffic, cruise control and includes an automatic emergency braking system. All this is intended, according to Subaru, "to reduce driver fatigue on long journeys and enable active enjoyment of driving with peace of mind". The driver aids in the VIZIV are expected to make it into production cars around 2020.
The VIZIV Tourer is pure Subaru under the skin with symmetrical four-wheel-drive and a boxer engine and has, according to the company, been designed around Subaru's "Dynamic x Solid" philosophy to "evoke successive generations of Subaru touring wagon models".
