What's the news?
It's hard to believe, but the Audi TT is turning twenty years old. To mark the occasion, Audi has commissioned a special 'TT 20 years' model that will be put into a limited production run of just 999 examples worldwide. Drawing inspiration from the original roadster concept that made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show, the limited-run car should appeal to TT fans keen to bag what could be a future classic. It will be available as a coupe or roadster.
Exterior
Those lucky enough to get their name down in the order books for one of the TT 20 years will be able to choose between Arrow grey or Nano grey paint finishes. The five-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels get a dark grey 'metal gloss' finish and behind them sit gloss black brake callipers. At the back are stainless steel exhausts in a design that's unique to the car. Keeping up the tech side, the car also gets the company's Matrix OLED rear lights that feature a three-dimensional design.
Interior
Audi has done an impressive job of making the TT's already decent interior even more attractive. In a nod to the original models that featured their 'Baseball Leather' upholstery, the anniversary edition gets a fine Nappa leather in moccasin brown with specific Panuka contrasting stitching. On the flat-bottomed steering wheel and gear lever are 'TT 20 years' badges.
Mechanicals
Just the one choice of engine will be available in the TT 20 Years, the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit. Under Audi's current naming strategy this will be referred to as the 45 TFSI. Its power output is rated at 245hp with 370Nm of torque. As with the more powerful TTS model, top speed is limited to 250km/h, while the dash to 100km/h is completed in 5.9 seconds. Also standard are Audi's quattro all-wheel drive and a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Anything else?
There's no official word yet on just how many examples of the special Audi TT will be available in right-hand drive, but with only 999 examples across both coupe and roadster body styles being built, worldwide demand could be high.
