What's the news?
If ever a new paint option was going to be newsworthy, then it's this one. The Lexus LC Coupe we already know - you have the choice of swift-but-frugal LC 500h hybrid, or gloriously-gargling LC 500 with its 477hp 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, and we are very familiar with its slinky good looks, its gorgeous cabin, and its enjoyable driving dynamics.
To that enticing mix Lexus now adds a dash of colour. Well, we say a dash, but the Flare Yellow paintjob on the LC Yellow Edition looks rather like Lexus went slightly nuts in a Dulux shop. It's eye-popping, that's for sure, and while it may not look quite so good on a wet Wednesday in Fermoy, it'll probably look ace in the drenching sunshine of a mid-afternoon in Cannes.
The special colour scheme continues inside, where the cabin is clothed in a mixture of Alcantara suede and semi-aniline leather. The seats are covered in white leather, with a contrast yellow stitch, and there are black leather door panels with warm yellow Alcantara inserts. It's not for the shy and retiring, but it sure is striking.
Those seats get 10-way power adjustment, by the way, and there's a head-up display as standard too. All Yellow Edition models get the Lexus Sport + handling package, which includes a variable-ratio steering rack, four-wheel steering, adaptive dampers, and a Torsen limited-slip differential at the back.
On the outside, you get 21-inch forged alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler that deploys at speeds of above 80km/h and which is made from ultra-light, ultra-strong carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).
The LC Yellow Edition will be one of the stars of the Lexus stand at the upcoming Paris motor show, and will be available for delivery from the autumn of this year.
