Audi SQ5 TDI has 347hp V6 diesel, does 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds and costs from €89,820.

What's the news?

Audi Ireland has revealed that the high-performance SQ5 SUV, now available in diesel form, will cost from €89,820 OTR.

As we still don't officially get the 354hp TFSI model, this is our first look at the SQ5 on these shores. The newcomer pairs a V6 turbodiesel with an electrically powered compressor, to negate turbo lag, and a corresponding 48-volt mild hybrid system to ensure maximum efficiency.

The 3.0-litre engine in the SQ5 delivers 347hp and a huge 700Nm of torque, meaning the SUV can sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds - that's three-tenths quicker than the petrol SQ5. The top speed of the TDI is a limited 250km/h, while Audi is claiming up to 34.4mpg (8.2 litres/100km) with CO2 emissions as low as 172g/km.

Power goes to all corners of the SQ5 TDI, as it's a quattro, via an eight-speed Tiptronic auto with a Sport differential. Dynamic Steering will be an option, while firmer, 30mm-lower-than-standard suspension with electronic damper control will be part of the standard equipment list.

Exterior and interior details mark out the SQ5 from its regular brethren, as it has a large Singleframe grille with double aluminium slats, Twilight Grey matte trim detailing, LED lights front and rear, 'Dynamic' indicators with a sweep pattern, one exclusive body colour (Panther Black), S-logoed door sills, contrast stitching on the steering wheel and Sport seats, and wood interior appliques, with carbon inlays an option. Boot space stands at 550 litres with all seats in place and 1,550 litres with the rear row folded away.

Anything else?

Thorsten Godulla, managing director of Audi Ireland, said: "At Audi Ireland, we want to continue to offer Irish drivers more choice and we are delighted to announce the SQ5 TDI is now available to order in Ireland. This is a really exciting model to introduce to the Irish market, as it boasts a powerful engine with a mild hybrid system which enhances efficiency. This new model displays the innovative and dynamic features for which Audi is renowned for."
