New turbocharged BMW Z4

BMW has fitted its new turbocharged four-cylinder engine to the Z4.

Today's New York Auto Show (20 April) will see the debut of the BMW Z4 TwinPower Turbo Z4sDrive28i. As well as an impressive Scrabble score the new 2.0-litre unit puts out 240hp - more than the existing six-cylinder Z4 sDrive30i.

More power, with less emissions, BMW's EfficientDynamics development continues apace, though BMW is yet to give its new forced induction four-pot Z4 any official performance or consumption figures.

BMW is so busy downsizing its engines and saving the planet in the process that nobody's noticed the space bar isn't working on the press department's computer...

The new car will join the range later this year, with prices announced closer to its on sale date.
