All-wheel-drive Superb Scout gets more ground clearance.

What's the news?

As well as introducing a refreshed Superb that includes a plug-in hybrid model, Skoda is adding a Superb Scout to the expanded line-up. Following the design trend of the Octavia Scout, the Superb Scout comes only in the Combi (estate) body style and wears bespoke bodywork with aluminium effect underbody protection on the bumpers. Plastic cladding surrounds the wheelarches and side sills, with roof rails and window frame surrounds finished in chrome and mirror housings in an aluminium look.

A new exterior colour, called 'Tangerine Orange', is exclusive to the Superb Scout, as are two-tone 19-inch 'Manaslu' rims. As standard, the Scout runs on 18-inch 'Braga' alloy wheels. Skoda will also offer a Rough Road package that adds a height increase of 15mm for better ground clearance on rough terrain. Adding to this is an additional Off-Road setting for the driving mode selector, while Dynamic Chassis Control is available optionally.

The interior features a unique wood effect finish on the dashboard fascia and trim inserts carry the Scout logo, as do the front seats. Those seats are heated as standard and come covered in a fabric that is specific to the Superb Scout. Optionally, the outer rear seats can be heated. The Superb's infotainment system is equipped with additional off-road displays. Boot space remains usefully huge at 600 litres as standard and can increase to 1,950 litres by folding the rear seats down.

Two engine choices are available in the Superb Scout, the most powerful units in the diesel and petrol ranges and are equipped with all-wheel-drive, seven-speed DSG automatic transmissions. The 2.0-litre TDI diesel produces 190hp and 400Nm of torque and uses an SCR converter with AdBlue injection and a diesel particulate filter to ensure it meets the latest Euro 6dTEMP emissions standard.

For the petrol version, the Superb Scout is fitted with a 2.0-litre TSI engine producing a maximum power output of 272hp and 350Nm of torque. It too has a particulate filter to get it through the Euro 6dTEMP standards.

Anything else?

Skoda offers a Sleep Package for the Superb Scout consisting of larger headrests and a blanket for the rear and, to boost space, there is the option to electrically adjust the front passenger seat position from the rear.
