What's the news?
Peugeot Ireland has opened up the order books for the new 508 SW estate. The wagon version of the 508 fastback is pretty much just as good looking as the five-door, but has a smidgen of extra practicality, with a boot that expands from 530 litres with the seats up to 1,780 litres with the back seats folded flat. The SW also gets 'Magic Flat' seats that tumble forward to make a flat load floor with a tug of a handle in back.
Colin Sheridan, Sales and Marketing Director at Gowan Distributors, Peugeot importer in Ireland, said: "Hot on the heels of the new, head-turning 508 fastback, which was launched in Ireland at the start of this year to much applause, the all-new 508 SW estate will bring its own unique combination of style and driving dynamics to the D-segment estate sector. It has arrived just in time for the new 192-registration plate and our dealer network is now taking orders."
The 508 SW will come in Active, Allure, GT-Line and GT trims, and will be available with the same 1.6-litre Pure Tech petrol, and 1,6 and 2.0-litre BlueHDi diesel engines, with up to 180hp. There will, eventually, be a plug-in hybrid variant with four-wheel drive and a combined 300hp too.
The SW comes with aluminium roof rails and luggage nets in the boot as standard, a 12.3-inch digital instrument pack, and either an eight- or ten-inch central touchscreen. A host of safety features also come as standard, including Emergency Brake Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assistance with edge detection. MirrorLink with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also included as standard.
The Active model has 16-inch alloy wheels, alongside automatic dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors with a colour reversing camera, AGR driver and passenger seats, automatic headlights and wipers plus an electrochrome rear-view mirror.
In Allure trim, the all-new 508 SW gets Active Blind Spot Detection, Advanced Driver Attention Alert, Peugeot Smartbeam Assist, Speed Limit Recognition and Recommendation, 3D Navigation with Voice Recognition, a twin chrome exhaust, 17-inch alloy wheels and dark tinted rear glass. Prices for the Allure trim start from €36,640 plus delivery related charges.
Starting from €39,880, the GT Line trim adds Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go function, Lane Positioning Assist, a smartphone charging plate, 18-inch alloy wheels and self-levelling full LED headlights, with Peugeot's signature 3D rear light cluster. The GT Line also comes with Peugeot i-Cockpit Amplify, which allows customers to change the interior lighting balance, as well as the engine note, through active speaker technology.
The top-of-the-range GT model is available from €50,820 and features an Active Suspension system, smart electric tailgate (foot operated), electrically adjustable and heated driver and passenger seats with driver seat memory function, driver and passenger seat multi-point massage function and full grain leather upholstery.
