Skoda has confirmed that the newly-launched Kamiq crossover will gain a sporty-looking flagship, but, unlike its larger siblings, it won't be called a Sportline, but will instead go under the Monte Carlo moniker.
Tracking the Yeti
The only Skoda crossover or SUV that has been sold with the Monte Carlo branding previously is the now-deceased Yeti, so the Kamiq follows on from there. It will debut alongside its equivalent Scala Monte Carlo model at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week and is defined, in the main, by black exterior detailing.
You will spot this colour on the frame surrounding the grille, on bits of front-bumper detailing, clothing the door mirrors, roof rails and side sills, for the window trims and also for the spaced 'S K O D A' lettering on the tailgate. All the available Kamiq engines can be paired with Monte Carlo trim, while buyers get 17-inch Monte Carlo-design alloys with 18s an option. A black rear diffuser, black model designations and full LED taillights complete the exterior look.
Red A-daring
Inside, the Kamiq Monte Carlo gains height-adjustable sports seats up front with a specific Monte Carlo design and integrated head restraints. There's also a multifunction sports steering wheel with a perforated leather finish and red decorative stitching, detailing you'll also find on the gear lever and the handbrake. Interior ambient lighting is red, while chrome air-vent trims and aluminium pedals add splashes of brightness to the Kamiq's cabin. Purchasers of the Monte Carlo will also get trims and the instrument panel with their own design, bespoke floor mats, 'Kamiq' lettering on the door sills and a black headlining for the cabin. Deliveries of the Kamiq Monte Carlo will begin at the end of this year in parts of Europe, though Irish market availability has yet to be confirmed.
'Distinctive personality'

What you have here is a perfect combination of a sporty design referencing our successful rally vehicles and the everyday usability of a smart city SUV."
