Renault unveils the Latitude saloon

Massive new Renault saloon to take on Skoda Superb.

Renault has unveiled the Latitude, which will mark a return to large family saloons by the French firm. The new model, which is based on the Samsung SM5, will make its public debut at the end of August at the Moscow Motor Show. It will go on sale this autumn in Asia, Africa, Russia, Turkey, Australia and Mexico and will make its European debut at the Paris Motor Show in September. It is expected that a European version will go on sale shortly afterwards.

At 4,890mm long and 1,830mm wide, this Passat lookalike is longer and wider than the massive Skoda Superb and will feature one of the largest boots in its class. Other features include bi-xenon headlights and LED rear lights, while inside there will be luxuries such as a dual-mode air ionizer with double fragrance diffuser, triple-zone climate control, a massaging driver's seat, Bose Premium audio and hands free entry. There is no word on engine options just yet, but expect to see Renault's 2.0-litre 180hp dCi as well as the 140hp 2.0-litre petrol engine.
