It's a van called Expert, not an expert on electricity…

Peugeot will launch an electric version of the Expert van in the second half of 2020.

Choice of batteries and ranges

Following on from the recent announcement of the new Opel Vivaro-e (which shares its structure, batteries, and motor with the e-Expert) the new electric Peugeot van will come in two versions, with a choice of ranges from 200km to 300km.

'It seemed obvious'

Peugeot claims that most professional drivers cover less than 300km a day, so that made an all-electric version of the Expert 'seem obvious.' That obviousness is underlined by the fact that many city centres are starting to restrict vehicle access to those able to run on 100 per cent electric power, so for anyone wanting to deliver to urban businesses, an electric van is soon going to be a must-have.

Electrified van range by 2021

It's part of a push by Peugeot to have all of its van and commercial range electrified in either fully electric or hybrid forms by 2021. The e-Expert will come with either a 50kWh battery, or a 75kWh battery. Peugeot hasn't given us any more technical details, but you can pretty safely expect it to be able to carry a roughly one-tonne load, if it's to be competitive with rivals such as the new Mercedes-Benz e-Vito.

The new Peugeot e-Expert will be launched in the second half of 2020 and will carry on the undisputed success of the Peugeot Expert since its launch in 2016 with more than 170,000 units sold; It will also strengthen Peugeot LCV's leadership in Europe and add another electrified model to the Peugeot range, alongside Partner Electric, Boxer Electric, e-208, e-2008, 3008 and 508 Hybrid and Hybrid4.
