Lexus newcomer is already outselling long-established Toyota Prius

The Lexus CT200h has emerged as a surprise hit since it was launched earlier this year and in its short time on sale has already surpassed it Toyota cousin, the Prius, to emerge as the best-selling hybrid car on sale.

Lexus CT200h: Sales Success

More than 100 CT200h models have been sold, despite the fact that the car only went on sale at the end of February. Having outsold the longer-established Prius (88 units) the Lexus is now the best-selling hybrid car on sale in Ireland.

Toyota Prius: Long Established

Honda’s Insight has sold just 45 units this year and 14 units of the CR-Z.

According to Kevin O'Reilly, Operations Manager for Lexus Ireland speaking to CompleteCar.ie the Lexus CT200h has been warmly received by the Irish public. "Reaction to CT 200h since it's launch in March has been extremely positive, with over 100 sold in the first two months. What has surprised us most are the number of people downsizing in the premium segment.  This is clearly a trend in the market, with many owners of larger premium cars wanting to downsize to reduce running costs, but without compromising on luxury and specification. As a result, most of the demand to date is for higher specification grades, with up to a 12 week lead time for Executive models"
