New electrified Opel Corsa to cost from €27,338 in Ireland.

Opel Ireland has confirmed that prices for the Corsa-e will start from €27,338, inclusive of the SEAI grant and VRT relief.

Compares well to e-208

There will be two specifications of Corsa-e available to Irish customers, those being the SC from €27,338 and the Elite from €30,800. Those prices compare almost identically to the Peugeot e-208, the car upon which the Corsa-e is based, which starts at €27,334.

With its 50kWh battery, the Corsa-e has a WLTP range of up to 337km on a single charge, while its 136hp/260Nm motor allows it to run 0-100km/h in 8.1 seconds. The interior and boot space are both identical to the combustion-powered Corsa models, and charging takes 7.5 hours on a fast AC 32-amp/7kW Wallbox, while 80 per cent of charge can be replenished in 30 minutes on a rapid DC 100kW connection.

Generous standard spec

Buyers of the Corsa-e SC will enjoy a seven-inch colour touchscreen for the infotainment, DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, USB connections, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Assist, Speed Sign Recognition, Automatic Emergency City Braking, Hill Assist, cruise control with a speed limiter, LED headlight, 16-inch alloy wheels, High-Beam Assist, and Isofix child-seat fixings on the outer two rear seats. Items like satnav, auto wipers and lights, an anti-dazzle rear-view mirror, rear parking sensors, an electric parking brake, climate control and keyless start are all bits of equipment which the Corsa-e enjoys, over and above its regular ICE siblings.

The Corsa-e Elite adds to the SC's trim level with a ten-inch colour touchscreen, premium half-leather-effect seat upholstery, 17-inch alloys, a panoramic rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, folding/heated door mirrors, intelligent speed adaption, keyless entry and start, and Side Blind Spot and Flank Guard. It also gains Intellilux matrix LED headlights.

'Offering customers the choice'

James Brooks, managing director at Leeson Motors, the Opel importer in Ireland, said: "We're celebrating the arrival of the all-new Corsa-e model, as our first full-electric car in Ireland, and it takes its place beside our new Grandland X plug-in hybrid, now also available. These new models fulfil our strategy of offering customers the option to choose their preferred model, then the powertrain that best suits them and their lifestyle - petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid or 100 per cent electric - without compromising on space, technology, looks or driving sensations. In response to rapidly changing consumer needs, we look forward to the arrival of a host of new all-electric models throughout 2020 and beyond."

Following the Corsa-e and Grandland X PHEV, Opel will introduce an all-electric Vivaro-e later this year, followed by EV version of the Combo Life and Zafira Life models.
