Did you think that being stuck in the house would keep the great Ken Block from pulling donuts, handbrake turns, and smoky drifts? Well, of course it has - even Ken can't get a rally car up the stairs at home. But he has done the next best thing, and in co-operation with Ford's new 'Family Fun Hub' the good Mr Block has made a stop-motion animation video to both entertain and educate.
Stop motion video of Ken's Fiesta drifter
The video sees a Hot Wheels version of Ken's rally-spec Ford Fiesta drifting, screaming, and skidding around the house. Across carpets, up and down skirting boards, into play garages, and even into the sink. It's a short, fun video that's meant to underline the advice we've all become used to by now - stay at home, wash and disinfect your hands regularly, keep apart from other people, sneeze into a tissue (and bin it when you're done) and so on.
The video also has some other tips, such as making sure you 'leave some for others' (he's talking specifically about toilet roll, there...) and the best advice we can think of: 'Be kind." Yup, that about sums it up Ken.
Family Fun Hub
The video is part of the #StayHome efforts being made by Ford which includes the new Ford Family Fun Hub - an online resource of colouring, origami, puzzles, spot-the-difference, and mazes, all of which are designed to keep car-mad young 'uns happy and busy while we're keeping up our social distancing.
Video game recommendations
There's also some video game recommendations from the brilliantly-named Leah Viathan. She's the UK captain of Team Fordzilla, the Blue Oval's online racing and e-sports team. "If you want to entertain yourself, if you want to entertain the kids, or the family or your co-workers, I've got some really cool games I would recommend," says Leah. "Hopefully it helps. Stay safe out there and have fun!"
(Mind you, we - old farts that we are - preferred the brilliant 50 years of Capri video that popped up on our feed while we were browsing the Family Fun Hub. Each to their own...)
