It’s only the small details of exterior trim and badging that distinguishes the electric version of the X1 from its petrol and diesel brothers. BMW clearly wants its EVs to be thought of as mainstream, rather than weird offshoots. And if the iX1 is mainstream, then count us in - it has brisk performance, solid range and carries over the sharp dynamics of the petrol version. It’s also roomy and has a terrifically high-quality cabin.
