Despite flying back into Dublin late last night before from an excellent Concorso d'Eleganza event in Italy, it was an early start to not only turn copy around from that event, but also from a Lexus NX preview the previous Friday. An interesting car that, and although it won't do huge numbers in its segment, will prove to be a hugely important car for Lexus I think. Naturally, being a Monday, today also involved a degree of car swapping, but thankfully I have just the one to collect this week - a Honda CR-V.

With the bulk of my deadline work done, I decided to head into Dublin in my CR-V test car to see how it copes. One thing that people often ask is "do I have particular routes?" Yes, I do. Even the trip into my regular coffee shop haunt carries a set route thatI take in every test car I have. Not only because it's a regular route for me, but it has a big variety of speed bumps, poor road surfaces, city traffic (usually) amongst other things, and as I do it so often I know it well and it serves as a good comparison for other cars I test. Oh yes, and there's coffee at the end.

Mercedes-Benz couldn't had picked a better day in which to hold the Irish launch of its new C-Class. I won't bore you with the details, as you can read all about it here, but I must say the interior is very well designed and put together, moves the game up a notch in my opinion. The day was also a first chance for many of the newly-formed APMP (Association of Professional Motoring Press) to get together. As previously tweeted, I'm both pleased and honoured to be a member. Exciting times ahead.

If only yesterday's weather had hung around. A rather grey and damp day in which to be photographing a new twin-test with my colleague Neil Briscoe. Employing as many tricks as I could, I reckon we pulled it off on the day, the results of which you'll be able to see soon enough.

Have been massively impressed with the Honda CR-V all week, mostly by its seriously good fuel economy, but when the opportunity to spend the weekend in a similarly-engined Civic popped up I couldn't say no. Have been a big fan of the recent Civic designs, and spending the weekend in one further cemented by appreciation for them. It's a car that gets overlooked by many unfortunately.
