So, this week we found out what BMW is doing to update the 3 Series saloon, but to be honest, we were quite happy with the current model as it is. Better still, we managed to find a really tasty one that will cost you buttons to run and costs about as much as a mid-spec new Mondeo.
It's a 2012 316d in SE specification with the desirably Dakota leather trim. Don't be put off by the down-tuned engine either - the 316d may not be the most powerful 3 Series but it's sweeter and more refined than the 318d and in real terms not that much slower than the benchmark 320d. Better yet, fuel and motor tax are going to be astonishingly affordable, and with just 26,000km on the clock, this one is practically brand new.

I know, I know, but honestly, they don't give the bother they used to, and actually, a 159 like this is one of the best-built cars ever to come out of an Alfa factory. Better yet, this one comes with a full service history, leather and the desirable 2.0-litre JTDM diesel engine. A mobile work of art, for the price of a new Fiesta...
