Gowan Auto, the exclusive importer of brands including Peugeot, Honda and Fiat in the Republic of Ireland, has appointed Joe Mallon Motors as the new Peugeot dealer in County Kildare. Based at a new site in Naas, the dealer will deal with new vehicle sales and aftersales for the French brand.

Established group

Joe Mallon Motors will be a familiar name to many in Kildare, having operated in Naas for almost 40 years. Originally on the Dublin Road, the company moved to the Sallins Road in 2001 before opening a second location in Portlaoise, County Laois. The firm now employs 65 people across its business and was awarded Car Dealership of the Year 2023 by Midlands 103. It was also chosen as Irish Electric Vehicle Dealer of the Year 2023, by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland (ZEVI).

Now, the company has been appointed by Gowan Auto, which imports Hondas and the Stellantis group's brands into the Republic of Ireland, to operate Kildare's new Peugeot dealership. The company will deal with new vehicle sales and aftersales based in a dedicated showroom in Naas.

"We are delighted to welcome such a well-respected Dealership to the brand and we look forward to the partnership," said Des Cannon, the managing director of Peugeot in Ireland. "We are sure we chose the right team to represent the Peugeot brand in Kildare and join us on our electrification journey."

Continued community support

Joe Mallon Motors also contributes to the local community, currently sponsoring the Joe Mallon Motors Kildare Senior Football Championship, Allenwood GAA and Cappagh GAA clubs, and other events and charities in Kildare and Laois. The company is expected to continue its support for these causes following the announcement.

"We are very proud to secure the Peugeot franchise for the Kildare region," said Philip Mallon, the managing director of Joe Mallon Motors. "We are investing €3 million to develop our current site, which will offer significant expansion and modernisation of our Naas showroom in the coming months, which will include a new Peugeot showroom and a new workshop for our after-sales department. Peugeot's fantastic vehicle line up is a great addition to our product range and we also look forward to welcoming current Peugeot drivers for aftersales requirements to our premises on the Sallins Road."

Speaking of the company's contribution to good causes, Mallon said: "We feel that this community-based focus is very important to us as a way of giving back to the local community that has supported us over the years."
