Cork-based Blackwater Motors - which has dealerships for Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, SEAT, and VW Vans across County Cork - has launched its Christmas charity drive, gathering food donations for the famous Cork Penny Dinners.
Open on Christmas Day
For decades, Cork Penny Dinners has been offering free meals to the homeless and destitute in Cork. It is famed for being open and running on Christmas Day, ensuring that no one in Cork who’s struggling needs to be without a proper Christmas dinner.
Donations of non-perishable food
To help out, Blackwater Motors is getting into gear with the help of their Audi Cork and Blackwater Motors Brand Ambassadors and Penny Dinners Trustees Volunteer Coordinator, Caitríona Twomey at the Audi Cork showrooms in Bishopstown.
The plea from Blackwater is for members of the public to visit any Blackwater Motors showroom - and there’s a complete list on blackwatermotors.ie - and drop off any non-perishable food items that they can spare between the 2 December and 20 December. All the food collected will be passed on to Cork Penny Dinners.
Vital role
Speaking at the launch of the food drive Audi Cork, Sales Manager, Richard Schoonbaert said, “As a group we are long-term supporters of Cork Penny Dinners and we understand the vital role the donations make to the charity and would encourage people to support where they can. We have drop off points in our dealerships located in Bishopstown, Cork, Fermoy & Skibbereen.”
