Earlier this month Finglas Ford and Blanchardstown Ford had been placed into liquidation by its owners but this blow to the motor industry has been softened somewhat by the news that Joe Duffy Motor Group has acquired the Finglas Ford garage. The acquisition means that approximately 40 jobs will be saved and the business will continue trading.
Gavin Hydes, Managing Director of the Joe Duffy Motor Group commented that "I am delighted to announce this acquisition as a further step in our Group's strategic plan for the development of our company. The location of the Finglas Ford dealership further strengthens our ties within the Dublin marketplace. We very much look forward to our new partnership with Ford Ireland and are excited about the current range of cars and commercial vehicles available from Ford. "
Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland added: "We are delighted to announce that Joe Duffy Motor Group will take over the operations of Finglas Ford which recently had a liquidator appointed by the High Court.
"We are working with the team from Joe Duffy Motor Group in the task of establishing the new company under the stewardship of Dermot Fallon who is a Director of Joe Duffy Motor Group.
"It is an ongoing process and we are very hopeful that a high number of the former staff will remain with the company.
"This is a great outcome for the staff, for ourselves in Ford Ireland and, not least, for the many Ford customers in the wider North Dublin area. The important message for those customers is that it is "business as usual" with a seamless transition and no disruption to either the sales or aftersales service at the dealership.
"We are delighted with this great opportunity for Ford to work with the Joe Duffy Motor Group, a well established name in motoring in Dublin with more than 40 years of experience behind them."
