Well, it might be lashing down outside but it's sunny in Mazda-Ville. Mazda Ireland has posted a 35 per cent climb in sales in the past month, and a 21 per cent gain in sales overall this year.

That comes off the back of introducing new or revised models for essentially its entire range. Facelifted versions of the Mazda6 and CX-5 have gone on sale this year, alongside all-new Mazda2 and CX-3 models.

It comes as Mazda is doing well worldwide too. Global sales have topped 1.4-million cars this year so far, a five per cent gain, with a 14 per cent rise in Europe. Mazda Ireland says that it will try and capitalise on this recent success by taking on five new people in key head office roles, after-sales, marketing and franchising.

Mazda will also be rolling out a facelift and update to dealer facilities, most of which should be completed by spring 2016, which will "create a welcoming and interactive environment where the cars will be the stars and prospective buyers are placed at the forefront of the purchasing process. Customers will benefit from an enhanced customer service to ensure that their motoring needs are at the heart of the experience and that they are provided with the best option to suit their requirements."

Commenting on the growth announcement, Tony Howarth, Managing Director, Mazda Ireland said: "I am delighted to see the Mazda brand enjoy 35 per cent growth in July over 2014. Our new product launches such as the all new Mazda CX-3 and the all new Mazda2 fuel our impressive growth. Our stunning Kodo design and SKYACTIV technologies are resonating well with the Irish public. With an entirely new product range, increased and upgraded retail network and an attitude that puts customers first, I am confident that the Mazda brand is about to reassert itself in Ireland as one of the most desirable on the market and one that should never be overlooked. Our continued growth has no sign of slowing down any time soon and the hotly anticipated new-generation Mazda MX-5 arrives in Ireland this autumn."
