Skoda launches recruitment drive for apprentices

What's the news?

Skoda Ireland is commencing a fresh recruitment drive for apprentice technicians across its dealer network. In all, there is a total of 24 positions available covering 17 dealerships. The company began its Trainee Careers Programme in 2016, which went on to fill 30 places in many different areas.

William Lee, Head of After Sales for Skoda Ireland, said "We are delighted to be in a position to create 24 new apprentice positions - particularly at a time when young, talented and driven Leaving Certificate students are making important decisions about their future and their career prospects.

"Our customers are at the heart of our business, and we always strive to deliver the best service in the motor industry. We are looking to recruit ambitious people, who will contribute to our continued brand growth and who will help us to continue to provide the excellent level of service that we have built our reputation on. For those successful candidates, we can ensure an innovative, dynamic and rewarding career, for years to come," he added.

Skoda is enjoying a healthy streak in the Irish market at present, with its new vehicle registrations growing in a market that is seeing an overall decline. Several new models, particularly new SUV variants such as the Kodiaq Sportline and the introduction of its smaller SUV the Karoq Sportline are helping drive sales. Skoda is working towards its target of being one of the top five most popular brands in Ireland. This push is one of the reasons for the commencement of the new apprentice recruitment scheme.

Volkswagen Group Ireland, of which Skoda is a part of, has a dedicated careers website that provides relevant information about the different positions that are available within the Group and across the dealer network. You can find this website at www.vwgcareers.ie.
